Iowa Peace Network Tent Adoption

Here in Des Moines, we have a large community of people who live by the river or under bridges. Quality of life can be greatly improved with the addition of a tent and good camp gear!

Do you have gear that you are no longer using? Imagine how much better life is with a tent and a bike. If you have unused equipiment, consider donating it to those who will use it every day

"Swords into Plowshares"

This "Plowshare Pin" was made from the metal of a "sword" of the 20th century...a U.S. Air Force f-84 thunderjet fighter plane. These can be ordered from IPN or from Catholic Peace Ministry (who has them crafted.) They are $10.00.

Motivated by faith in God and a commitment to the way of life exemplified by Jesus Christ, we invite like-minded individuals, churches, and other groups to unite in the Iowa Peace Network to build a sense of community among those who find common ground for a peace witness in our day; to facilitate exchange of information, cooperative study and action, and encouragement of one anotherinpeacefulpursuits; to demonstrate the effectiveness of an active peace witness in the interrelationshipsof individuals and groups; to pose life affirming alternatives to the prevailing trust in armaments for security and peace in the world."

Established in 1976 to provide a peace witness among churches, groups and individuals across Iowa, IPN strives to inform and counsel persons on issues of conscience--conscientious objection to military service and payment of taxes for war.

The Penalty Sharing Community helps pay IRS fines and penalties for war tax resisters. This project has now been expanded to include financial assistance for fines and court costs resulting from direct action and nonviolent civil disobedience for war resistance.
